Amy Turner - Artist & Author
I relocated to Garden Bay, BC, leaving behind busy Vancouver city life for an experience that was magically transformative, peaceful and reflective. The time and space has allowed me to focus on my art and writing, and spend more time with my much-loved and very patient husband and naughty but tres-loveable French Bulldog.
MY WORK: I’ve written and painted since I was a kid, finding it a safe space to hide and create, and have only just started to share my work publicly. I paint dreamy abstract landscapes and write book club women’s fiction that tells stories of the strong feminine: the wounds we collect and the light that shines through the cracks. I love sharing my journey of finding my voice and strength and my subsequent transformation and growth with others. Art is a platform where we can share an experience, an “AHA” moment, and appreciate imperfect beauty. My work is raw, layered, investigates what lies beneath but finishes with a dose of optimism. I believe it gives all of us the opportunity to express the things we can’t say aloud.

ABOUT THE COAST: It is with the utmost respect and gratitude that I live and work on the traditional territory of the shíshálh Nation. We’ve met incredible people on the Sunshine Coast who are welcoming, fun-loving and dedicated to community. The only downside is that I miss my good friends tremendously and my anxiety still haunts me during the long winter nights.

ME, PAST: In a former life I worked in PR and corporate communications, and I still do freelance copywriting from time to time. I’m a grad school dropout and am WSET level 3-certified (wine geeks unite).
